Digital collections access and culture passes will fill your hours and expand your horizons
The Apache Junction Public Library has always been the best place to find an escape from the summer heat.
Endless entertainment can be accessed with a library card—even on Sundays.
The library’s digital collections are always available, the check-out limits are generous and never incur late-fees! Hoopla (hoopladigital.com) is a streaming site where you can instantly borrow movies, TV shows, music, ebooks and comics with your library card number and pin.
Read the latest magazines from your smartphone, tablet or computer through RBDigital (rbdigital.com) or download free music at Freegal (ajpl.freegalmusic.com). Ebook readers can borrow from the Greater Phoenix Digital Library using apps like Overdrive and Libby.
If you like to play videogames on lazy Sundays, head over to the library’s Mediabank located near the drive up drop off box and bookstore entrance.
The Mediabank is a DVD rental box that also carries videogame titles. The Mediabank is open even when the library isn’t. Check to see what’s new online and reserve something to pick up later.
Another way to utilize the library on a Sunday is to check out a “Culture Pass.” Culture Passes are two general admission tickets to museums all over the east valley. The librarian will give you a receipt to take to the admission desk at the museum of your choosing, then the museum desk will ask you to fill out a small card and permit you inside free of charge.
The Apache Junction Public Library provides thousands of options to stay entertained and engaged even on Sunday. A full list and directory of the library’s digital collections can be viewed on their website (ajpl.org), as well as more information on Culture Passes and the Mediabank.
The library is located at 1177 N. Idaho Rd. in Apache Junction, and is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m; Tuesday & Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is closed Sundays and all federal holidays. Call 480-474-8555 for more information.
