AJ/GC News to be Awarded in Statewide Competition

The Apache Junction & Gold Canyon News staff has received notice that four articles or ads have earned honors in the Arizona Newspapers Association-Associated Press Media Editors (ANA-APME) 2017 Better Newspapers Contest and Excellence in Advertising competition. The News competes in Division 3, which is the largest category for weekly news media in the competition, based on circulation.

Daniel Dullum, Ed Barker and Trish Beltran all placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in their class for Best Sports Story, Best Commentary, Best Color Ad and Most Effective Use of Paid Small Space, respectively, with the last two for Trish Beltran. The pieces recognized and the placements earned will be announced at the ANA-APME 2017 awards banquet, September 30, at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino in Chandler, AZ.

The Better Newspapers Contest consists of 8 categories that measure the overall quality of the newspapers and 24 categories that honor individuals who contribute to journalism excellence.
