Lady Prospectors collect 32 Digs in Season’s 2nd Win

Defense was the name of the game for Apache Junction on Sept. 7, as the Lady Prospectors battled to a four-game high school volleyball victory at Casa Grande over the Cougars.

The Lady Prospectors won 25-15, 25-14, 19-25, 25-21.

AJ had only nine serve-receive errors, and logged 32 digs. Libero Morgan Farsolas led the Lady Prospectors with 12 digs and 11 service aces to go with one back-row kill.

Mady Roach led Apache Junction with seven kills, with Emily Reynolds adding three. Cameron Krueger had two kills, three aces, one block and one assist.

Setter Lucia Kimble had 14 assists, two kills and three digs; and Haley Loftis had two kills, one ace, two digs and one assist. Also for the Lady Prospectors, Jessica Sigler served four aces to go with five digs; Maegan Smith had one ace and three digs; Elizabeth Brusacoram had one block and one assist; and Kennedy Bishop added three digs.

The victory gives the Lady Prospectors a 2-2 overall record.

Apache Junction’s junior varsity was defeated 25-15, 25-20 by Casa Grande Union on Sept. 7, Sami Groneberg, Memarie Gallegos, Allison Lopez and Stephanie Cervantes each had one kill.

Casa Grande defeated AJ 21-25, 25-19, 15-12. The loss dropped the freshmen record to 1-4 on the season.
