11/28 – SALT SPEAKER SERIES
Want to learn more about the natural history of the Sonoran desert surrounding our beautiful Superstition Mountains? The Superstition Area Land Trust (SALT) presents the "The Superstitions: Part of the Whole" speakers series. The talks, which are offered in collaboration with the Apache Junction Recreation Department, are free and geared to a general audience. They reflect SALT's mission "...to conserve the natural Sonoran Desert open spaces surrounding the Superstition Wilderness Area for this and future generations. This FREE presentation will take place at the Apache Junction Multi-Generational Center located at 1035 N. Idaho rd.
11/29 – AARP SMART DRIVER
This course provides research-based information to help you update your driving knowledge and skills. Bring driver's license, AARP membership card and a pen/pencil to class. Class will run from 1:00pm – 5:00pm in the Apache Junction Parks and Recreation Conference Center. Class is offered to ages 16 years and older. The registration fee is $25. AARP gives a discount if you provide your AARP card at the time of registration.
12/1 – HOLIDAY PROGRAM & LIGHT PARADE
The City of Apache Junction Parks and Recreation will be hosting our annual Holiday Program & Light Parade on Saturday, December 1st. The event will take place at Flatiron Community Park. This event is free to the community! There will be lots of activities throughout the day for the whole family. LET IT SNOW: Join us for this one of a kind FREE event for the whole family! We have something for everyone: 30 tons of snow, Santa, bounce house, an obstacle course and more. Local entertainment will be provided. The 21st Annual Holiday Light Parade: Individuals, businesses, non-profit agencies and groups are welcome to enter their floats. Pre-registration is required and the registration deadline is November 16th. The parade starts at 7pm and the route will be on Apache Trail between Phelps Dr. and Thunderbird Drive. Local Apache Junction businesses and agencies are encouraged to come out and showcase your excellent products and services. This is only open to City of Apache Junction businesses and Non-Profits.
12/4 – GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP (JR HIGH)
AJPR has teamed up with Cactus Canyon Jr. High girls basketball coach Kim Grant to bring you this customized basketball camp for Girls in Jr. High. The focus will be skill development and basketball knowledge, along with still having fun in an instructional format. This program is great for girls wanting to "try-out" for their Jr. High basketball team. This camp is offered to ages 12-14 years old and the registration fee is $60.
12/4 – KENPO KARATE KIDS
Kenpo provides physical activity, builds strength, coordination & confidence while providing the groundwork for a healthy lifestyle. Kenpo also builds on life skills & gives the student a greater respect for themselves & others. Uniforms are available for purchase through instructor. This class is offered for ages 8 -12 years old. Class runs each Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00pm – 6:45pm. The fee is $40.
12/4 – KENPO KARATE ADULT
Adult Kenpo is a complete martial arts system that is great for self-protection & close-quarters defense. Kenpo is a fun, low-stress learning environment that puts a premium on technical mastery & improvement. Class meets each Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00pm – 8:30pm. Adult Kenpo is offered to ages 13 years and older. The fee is $40.
12/8 – RIDGE WALKERS HIKING CLUB – WIND CAVE
Join our RidgeWalkers Hiking Club and hike a variety of beautiful, local trails with an experienced leader. The club will meet at the MGC and then be transported to the destination in our Parks and Rec van. Wind Cave, at Usery Park, is approximately a 3.2 mile hike and rated for beginners. The registration fee is $3 for MGC members and $8 for non-members. This hike is offered to ages 9-14 years old.
