How Do You Spell Success?

Three Apache Junction Unified School District Students rank among Top 10 in Pinal County Spelling Bee

Three Apache Junction Unified School District  students traveled to Casa Grande to compete in the 56th Annual Pinal County Spelling Bee, and all three students earned a spot in the Top 10.

Nearly 70 students throughout the county participated. Hailey Adams, a fifth grader from Peralta Trail Elementary School, placed fourth; Susana Martinez, who attends Cactus Canyon Junior High, came in 5th place and Elijah Anderson, who attends Desert Vista Elementary School, finished 10th.

“This is a huge accomplishment and something for the students and school district to be extremely proud of,” said Robyn Gonzales, educational services curriculum manager. “Spelling bees not only help students expand their vocabulary, they allow them to improve their reading and writing abilities, as well as engage in healthy competition. Congratulations to Hailey, Susana and Elijah. We are proud of all of you.”
